Description
We find a fair few copper kettles on our travels, and we thought this is one of the best we’ve seen. Possibly a Benson, it is circa 1887 and he Reg No: 84966 stamped on the lid. It has a gorgeous dimpled copper round design with a teapot style spout. The handle of the kettle and the lid are in decorative brass almost like a branch design. It has a plain brass footed base. There are two brass prongs on either side which would have been used to prop the kettle on a stand over the fire.
Generally these kettles are not in a state you’d want to use and are purely decorative, and we like to put them by a fireplace or woodburner.
The lid is quite loose – it’s definitely the original.
This piece would add an antique feel to any home. It has had a working life has a few dents and dings. as would be expected, but adds to its charm.
Width from spout to widest part is 20 cms
Height is 23 cms (including handle)
